LIFESTYLES OF LIFE

 Greetings and Salutations O Ye Lifers.

In prison jargon...a LIFER is someone who is "in for LIFE."   This thing called life is measured in terms of TIME.

All us are LIFERS...from the moment we come out of the womb...into this world and we begin to inhale oxygen... and exhale our breath.  We are here from the CRADLE...to the GRAVE.  We are all born into this world...born into different families...born into different socio-economic status'...born into different countries...born into individualized sets of situations and circumstances.  Of course after the grave we enter into a new dimension of life called ETERNAL LIFE...the question then arises...where will we spend this life.
 
 God had a few thoughts on this thing called life.  In the book of Deuteronomy He offers choices.

"I  call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you LIFE and DEATH...the BLESSING and the CURSE.  So CHOOSE LIFE in order that you may LIVE,  you and your descendants, by LOVING the Lord your God, by OBEYING His voice, and by HOLDING FAST to Him; for this is YOUR LIFE and the LENGTH OF YOUR DAYS... that you may LIVE IN THE LAND which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."  (Deuteronomy 30:19-20) 

Jesus had a few things to say about this thing called LIFE...and our relationship to it...and Him.

  "The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have LIFE, and might have it ABUNDANTLY. I am the good shepherd, the good shepherd lays down His LIFE for the sheep."
(John 10:10-11)



 Wow...not just LIFE...which in itself is wonderful...but ABUNDANT LIFE!  Back in the 60's...getting high was all the rage.  Smoking weed...popping pills...shooting stuff into bodies...all with the purpose of "getting high"...and enjoying this thing we call LIFE.  Of course the high...eventually would end...we would come crashing back down to the reality of this thing called LIFE...and have to get high again.  Some would avoid various chemicals or substances...for a "NATURAL HIGH".  Smoke or ingest "natural" substances such as marijuana or mushrooms or such.  There was a musical about God's Son back in those days called NATURAL HIGH.  Other songs spoke of "Jesus took me higher...than I've ever been before." 

I found out that fact in 1970 when I repented of my sins...asked Jesus to save me...believed in my heart that God raised Him from the dead...and confessed it with my mouth.  I began to experience this thing called ABUNDANT LIFE.  I was now...not just living life by breathing in and breathing out...all the while hating myself, my circumstances, and all that entails.  I went from being paranoid...to being at peace.  I went from fearing the future...to living live in the NOW... knowing that I had a future.  There was joy in my heart where once there was despair.  I was now LIVING LIFE... an not just playing the game of life...or eating a bowl of life.

Jesus said it all when He stated..."I Am the way...the truth... and the LIFE...no man comes to the Father but through me."  (John 14:6)
