TOP TEN REASONS THAT I DON'T CELEBRATE THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

Happy (fill in the blank of your special day)...Let the season of complaining begin.

Tis da season for those who believe that Christ is the reason for the season...and those who think otherwise.  With that in mind...here are the TOP TEN REASONS THAT I DON'T CELEBRATE THE REASON FOR THE SEASON.

DISCLAIMER:  I personally enjoy all aspects of the holiday from mistletoe to chestnuts roasting on the open fire...to glitz and gifts...to Blue Christmas to White Christmas dreams.

#10:  I don't want to make anyone...un..comfortable.

#09:  I would hate to offend agnostic, atheist, pagans, Muslims, any other religious or non religious sect or cult by mentioning the name of Jesus Immanuel the Christ.

#08:  "Why can't we just all get along?" (Rodney King)

#07:  How boring would holiday movies be with just Jesus?

#06:  How do you expect me to feed my greed...thinking about the ultimate gift from God?

NOTE:  This first picture is from the early days of dating of my favorite Christmas gift...Brenda Sue Williams.

#05:  Because I look so good in red and white.

#04: I like Christmas music...that has nothing to do with Christ-mas.

AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR:  Are you feeling guilty for leaving someone off of your gift list?  Do you fell the need to compete with friends and family to see who can give the most expensive gift?  Is your reason for the season to get...and to get you must sow so you can reap a good gift?  The solution is simple.  Reach into your back pocket or in your purse...pull out the credit card of your choice and max out those cards boys and girls and go deep into debt to show and buy your love.  Join millions for true reason of the season...CONSUMERISM.  And now back to our Rambling.

NOTE:  My friend and confidant...Alfred E. Neuman.  What...Me Worry about Christmas?

#03:  We have got to keep separation of Church and State which means a separation of Church from every area of life as we know it.

#02:  I can't taint myself with anything that is not Christian in origin...even though I don't mind tainting myself 364 other days of the year.  The concept of Christians taking back or redeeming the devil stuff can't be Biblical or can it?

NOTE:  This is a picture of the Nativity Scene that Harvey's Department Store would set up in Centennial Park in Nashville Tennessee back in simpler times.

AND THE #1 REASON THAT I DON'T CELEBRATE THE REASON FOR THE SEASON:

IT'S ALL ABOUT ME BABY...IT'S ALL ABOUT ME.

NOTE: The story of Advent...is laid out in the art work of Rufus Walsh.

"Now it came about in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.  This was the first census taken while Quirinius was Governor of Syria.  And all were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to His own city.  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register, along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.  And it came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.  And she gave birth to her first born son,; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.  And in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields, and keeping watch over their flock by night.  and an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.  And the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold I bring you good news of great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been BORN FOR YOU A SAVIOR, WHO IS CHRIST THE LORD." (Luke 2:1-11)

NOTE:  For full details read Matthew 1:18-25; Matthew 2:1-23; Luke 1:1-80; Luke 2:1-52.
